Part #1: Overview of Teachable and ClickFunnels

In this first part of the comparison, we take a look at a brief summary of what they both do.

Overview of Teachable

Teachable is known as one of the best online course creation tools. Teachable helps you put together a professional online course that gives your students a good learning experience and at the same time makes you passive income.

Teachable platform

Not too long ago I actually realized the importance of monetizing what I’m good at by building a tribe of hungry fans that are ready to pay me no matter how I price my course.

All thanks to Expert Secrets for that realization!

An online marketing tool like Teachable was solely built for the purpose of helping you host our content and give access to those who are ready to learn and apply what we teach.

It comes with customization tools, marketing utilities, templates, and a few other amazing features.

More explanation about that soon…

Overview of ClickFunnels

On the other hand, it seems like ClickFunnels poses the opposite of what Teachable does.

Clickfunnels 2.0

ClickFunnels is popularly known as an all-in-one tool for building marketing funnels, hosting membership content plus a couple of other things altogether.

Having compared ClickFunnels with some of the popular course creation and funnel-building platforms – it stands as one of the easy-to-use marketing software out there.

One thing about ClickFunnels is that houses everything you need to make your online course a great success, but I’d also have to say that not all the inbuilt solution was crafted perfectly…

Enough reason why most people seek out a specialized solution when the few solutions within ClickFunnels couldn’t perform the way they desired.

Exactly one of the reasons why I had to write this direct comparison between ClickFunnels and Teachable.

Anyways, there are really fantastic things about ClickFunnels that make it a top choice among many. We shall take a look at them very soon.

Part #2: ClickFunnels vs Teachable – Similarities

Yes, they differ in a few ways but there is a kind of similar feature found in Teachable and ClickFunnels that I’d like to discuss below.

#1: Friendly Builder

Drag and Drop page builders are getting better and better all over the place, and if you take a look at most of the online marketing tools out there – it is a common thing.

But, what actually matters is the friendliness and ability for us to use them easily without pain and bugs.

Teachable and ClickFunnels have both done a good job in this area.

You don’t need to be an expert designer or coder before you build out your marketing pages on them. You can customize whatever you want using the editors or go advanced mode by doing some minor coding, which isn’t necessary.

#2: Page Templates

You can have landing pages and a few other pages on Teachable used for selling your courses. And on ClickFunnels you can build out different types of pages (landing, webinar, squeeze, and form pages).

But you mustn’t do all that from scratch.

ClickFunnels and Teachable provide you with all these page templates which you can customize to your advantage and put your branding elements on them.

Even though ClickFunnels has way more templates for different marketing goals – Both tools still provide templates that are tested for conversions.

#3: Email Marketing Solution

You can utilize the email service on either of the platforms to build your email list, nurture leads, send targeted emails, segment, and do a bunch of other stuff.

The marketing automation feature found inside Teachable is mainly for online course marketing and all that.

While of ClickFunnels can be used in any online business and not just course building alone.

#4: Free Hosting

One of the coolest parts of ClickFunnels and Teachable is that you don’t have to go out to find and pay for hosting.

You can host your online businesses on these platforms without the need of a third-party hosting solution, which is nice for keeping your site and pages up at all times and fast for users.

#5: Affiliate Program

Maybe along the way, you decided to run an affiliate program for your online course or membership business, and you don’t really need to worry about paying for a referral management platform.

Teachable vs ClickFunnels for courses house an inbuilt portal for managing and recruiting an army of affiliate marketers to help you bring in leads.

Although I’d have to say that, you won’t find them as complicated as dedicated affiliate management software in the industry.

Part #3: Differences Between ClickFunnels and Teachable

Here is the most important part of this comparison. We shall take a look at the distinctive features.

#1: Quizzes for Users

Quizzes are there to provide more content for your users by testing them. This is one of the essential features always needed in an online course hosting platform.

And as you may guess, it is present on Teachable and not on ClickFunnels.

#2: Complete Sales Funnels

An all-in-one marketing suite like ClickFunnels helps you to design and build out all your marketing pages and funnels, host webinars, connect payment processors, create checkout pages, and automate sales.

You can literally run your entire online business on ClickFunnels. While on the other end, Teachable can’t serve as a funnel-building tool.

#3: Forums and Blogs

On Teachable you get access to learning and community tools like forums and blogs which are great features some course creators might find useful in building audience relationships.

A nice feature found on Kajabi too.

Being that ClickFunnels doesn’t offer much functionality when it comes to course creation, it doesn’t have these features.

#4: Evergreen Webinar

One of the most profitable strategies that have been proven to help bring sales on automation is the use of evergreen webinars.

I’ve seen successful online entrepreneurs deploy this tactic to the fullest, especially when they make use of the free perfect webinar system provided by ClickFunnels. Awesome!

Unfortunately, this is not a feature you get on Teachable. Sad 🙁

With this feature inside of ClickFunnels, you’ll be able to send prospects into your webinar funnel, then to your presentation and they’ll be automatically converted into customers or being remarketed to if not converted.

Pretty cool eh?

#5: Student Management Features

One of the trickier parts of running a membership site and an online course is the effective managing of the students, making sure that they take the courses, and providing them the support they deserve.

And Teachable gives you all of these management features you need out of the gate.

One of the ways it does this is with the student feedback module.

The student feedback module in Teachable lets you create items like surveys, Google Forms, and other feedback tools to get information from students and see what they dislike or what they’d like you to create in the future.

Another lacking feature in the ClickFunnels members’ area platform.

#6: Share Funnel/Campaign Option

Inside of ClickFunnels you can navigate to the Settings area of a selected funnel and grab the share funnel URL of that funnel or campaign and share it with anyone.

Share funnel ClickFunnels

Whenever someone visits this URL, they’ll be able to import this funnel directly into their ClickFunnels account. This makes it easy for agency owners to create and share a page or funnels with their clients.

How great!

This is something you can’t do on Teachable.

#7: Completion Certificate

Some Teachable plans (not all) provide you with course completion certificates. This contributes to the feeling of community and gives students a sense of achievement when they are through with your online course.

There is also a customization option for making it look the way you want and you can do this for all your courses hosted on Teachable.

How about ClickFunnels?

No! There is no availability for this inside of ClickFunnels. Maybe unless you have to do that with another software outside CF.

Part #4: Teachable vs ClickFunnels Pricing

Another obvious difference is the pricing model of both platforms, let us start with Teachable.

Teachable Pricing

Teachable has 4 pricing plans which all come with the basic features you need to host your online course, the Free plan for $0/mo, the Basic plan for $59/mo, the Professional plan for $159/mo, and the Business plan for $665/mo all priced annually.

Teachable pricing
  • Basic Plan

On this plan, there are 5% transaction fees, instant payouts, two admin users, product support, course creator training, custom domain support, coupon codes, integrated affiliate, and email marketing.

  • Professional Plan

In this plan, you get everything in the Basic plan, instant payouts, five admin users, advanced theme customization, and graded quizzes. Priority product support, completion certificates, and Teachable branding were removed.

  • Business Plan

The Business plan is the highest Teachable plan which gives you all the features present in the Basic and Professional plans. Here there are no transaction fees, 20 admin users, priority product support, manual student importing, bulk student enrollments, and custom user roles.

ClickFunnels Pricing

ClickFunnels 1.0 used to have two different pricing options. But when they launched version 2.0 – with way more advanced features – they introduced a brand new 3 new ClickFunnels 2.0 pricing tiers:

  • The Basic plan of $147/mo
  • The Pro plan of $197/mo
  • The Funnel Hacker plan of $297/mo

Part #5: Can you use ClickFunnels with Teachable together? (Integration)

Of course, like what I mentioned above, you can use ClickFunnels to run your entire marketing campaign, build a relationship and offer upfront value within your marketing funnel.

Then use a special LMS like Teachable to give access to your students which is definitely the best route for all online course creators to follow.

How to Integrate Teachable and ClickFunnels

Using Zapier has been one of the seamless ways to integrate ClickFunnels to Teachable so both can work amazingly to help you run your course effectively in a matter of minutes without a single line of code.

ClickFunnels to Teachable integration with Zapier

How does this work?

This works in such a way that it automatically enrolls new users in Teachable when they make a purchase through your ClickFunnels pages.

With this type of Zap, clients/customers from new checkout activity from ClickFunnels will be automatically enrolled in a specific course.

Does Teachable have funnels?

No, Teachable does not have the feature to create funnels. It is primarily focused on creating and selling online courses and does not offer marketing pages and funnels like ClickFunnels.

Wrap up – Which is Better?

ClickFunnels:

ClickFunnels is a platform that helps businesses automate their entire sales process by easily creating websites, landing pages, opt-in pages, squeeze pages, membership sites, and more. It offers features such as webinars, payment processors, checkout pages, and sales automation, but does not advertise itself as an online course host. The cost starts at $127 per month.

Teachable:

Teachable is a platform that allows users to create and sell online courses in one place. It provides features such as quizzes, a course completion reward system, and student feedback tools. It does not offer features such as marketing pages and funnels, webinars, or e-commerce stores. The cost starts at $59 per month.

In conclusion:

ClickFunnels and Teachable have different focuses and offerings. ClickFunnels is designed for businesses to automate their sales process and create marketing pages and funnels, while Teachable is focused on creating and selling online courses.

That doesn’t mean Teachable isn’t a good platform. In fact, Teachable is much more robust than ClickFunnels when it comes to online courses. The ClickFunnels membership site is pretty basic which makes it not too good of a course-building platform.

I have seen many course creators using ClickFunnels on the front end of marketing, driving leads, upselling, and processing payments then WHILE on delivery/fulfillment they use Teachable.
