Over the years, Upwork’s active client base has increased rapidly. This is mostly because many more businesses are embracing the remote work option and hiring more freelancers. 

Additionally, the number of freelancers is rapidly increasing too. Companies and hiring managers are investing more in freelance job positions. 

2. There are over 180 countries represented on Upwork

For Freelancers, Upwork charges a 10% freelancer service fee for any earnings they make on the platform. Previously, Upwork took 20% of the first $500 income on the platform, 10% for the next $9,500, and 5% when you cross the $10,000 threshold. But they changed earlier this year to a 10% flat fee.
