5 Best Autoresponders for Affiliate Marketing and MLM (2020)

How many times have you tried running an email marketing campaign and then found out that you’ve lost access to your autoresponder account?

In the worst scenario, losing your email list…

I can’t imagine such a heartbreak 🙁

  • Dozens or even hundreds of email copies gone
  • Precious time wasted
  • Powerful automation sequences lost

I get all that!

It feels like the end of the world and in the middle of giving up.

“Internet marketing wasn’t made for my kind of person after all”

No, it doesn’t have to be that way:

You only need a friendly autoresponder to UP your email marketing efforts.

I mean an affiliate friendly autoresponder that will serve you till the end of time.

You deserve better than that!

4 GIANT Steps That Changed My Affiliate Business. (& Life)

  • 1-minute read
  • Never buy any aff. marketing courses without reading
  • No B.S. No upsell!

You’re only a few scrolls away to that best autoresponder you ever need.

The best part?

You’ll also discover the Autoresponders you need to avoid!

But before I proceed with my concise list of best autoresponders for affiliate marketing

I want to quickly show you what and what you should put into consideration when going for an affiliate friendly email marketing service.

How To Choose an Affiliate Friendly Autoresponder 2020

Have you always wished to have your promotional emails delivered right into your subscribers’ inbox without having to go through some email marketing precautious strict rules?

It sounds like a dream come true, right?

Below are what you should look out for when going for an affiliate marketing friendly autoresponder:

#1: Good delivery rate

This should be your number one point of focus.

Email deliverability is critical to the success of your email marketing campaigns – so as an affiliate marketer you should keep an eye on your delivery rate.

#2: Marketing automation

Automation capability should be another factor you should look for when going for an autoresponder.

With a feature like this, you can set up complex automatic conditions, workflows, and drip campaigns to be sent to your subscribers.

Using automation in your affiliate marketing business will save you time and help increase your conversions (affiliate commissions) in a very long while.

#3: Reasonable pricing & plans

Oh yes! I’d consider the price as well when going for an autoresponder.

It’s not a bad idea bargaining for the best price, right? So, make sure the affiliate marketing autoresponder you’re going for wouldn’t cost you so much. Especially as a beginner.

#4: Easy to use, learn and master

Also, check the ease of use should be considered as well.

I can still remember when I’m very new to this whole internet marketing and affiliate marketing stuff. The very first email service I ever used was MailChimp.

Being a learner then, I found it a bit difficult getting the hang of MailChimp and some other platforms. But with time it didn’t take me too long to master the tool. Unfortunately, I had my account shut down because they never supported affiliate activities.

There are lots ‘hard to learn and master’ email services out there. Do bear this in mind as well.

#5: Enough trial period

For some people, it takes more than 7 days for them to learn and love a platform. Maybe they figured out that the autoresponder never matches up to their marketing stack…

Then they need to find the exit door without being charged, right?

Some marketing tools offer free trials up to 30days period which is pretty cool, while some give only as little as 3 days (kinda poor).

So I highly recommend putting this into consideration as well. 14days – 30days trial period is nice.

Please Avoid These!

Before I proceed with my top email marketing software for doing affiliate marketing – let me point out a few autoresponders which aren’t affiliate friendly.

Please avoid them if you do not want to get into trouble with them.

And be aware that – as they might not be a good fit for affiliate marketing, it doesn’t make them a bad email solution either. They’re all great at what they do!

  • MailChimp

This was my first email solution – but I had to migrate when I discovered that they frown a lot on affiliate links and affiliates as a whole. So avoid them!

  • ActiveCampaign

This is one of the best email marketing automation software – but it’s so unfortunate that you’re likely to get your account suspended when they notice something fishy.

I’ve heard a few people got lucky using ActiveCampaign for their affiliate marketing business by trying to play according to some strict regulations.

But mhenn…

I wouldn’t take such a risk! Would you?

  • MailerLite

Despite being one of the cheapest email marketing tools – please avoid MailerLite if you plan on sending affiliate offers to your email list.

  • Benchmark
  • SendinBlue
  • Constant Contact

These are the few I’m very much sure of that doesn’t support any type of affiliate activities for now.

I will update whenever I got to discover new ones. For now, lets proceed with our list…

5 Best Autoresponder For Affiliate Marketing And Marketers

Now you know some of the email marketing autoresponders you must avoid when doing affiliate marketing and network marketing, plus the criteria to bear in mind. So, lets take a look at the supported tools for sending your affiliate offers.

Starting from the best…

1. GetResponse (Top choice for affiliate marketing)

GetResponse is one of the most popular email autoresponders out here and happens to be our top pick for affiliate marketing.

GetResponse autoresponder for affiliates

This software makes it easy for you as an affiliate to import emails, automate messages, run split tests, build landing pages, host webinars and has a CRM feature.

GetResponse’s autoresponder feature provides some of the most comprehensive functionality you can ever get in a marketing tool.

It enables you to send time-based or action-based emails such as when your subscribers:

  • Opens a mail
  • Click a link
  • Changes preferences
  • Subscribes to a particular list
  • Completes a goal

Apart from the fact that you can also create automation rules using it’s drag and drop builder to further help send targeted messages to your lists.

One advantage GetResponse has over many is that it falls under one of the best landing page builders in the industry. It serves as a landing page software, allows you to host a webinar, has a CRM tool and an Autofunnel feature.

Another reason why GetResponse happens to be the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing is that they have the best deliverability rate. And they’re open about it.

Here’s what they said about it on their website:

“At GetResponse we are frequently asked about the quality of our deliverability rate. Because deliverability depends on many factors, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate could vary for each mailing. For all our customers collectively, however, we are proud to say our overall deliverability rate currently stands at 99%.”

GetResponse deliverability rate

For every of your campaign – GetResponse also gives you the deliverability rate of each via your email analytics (something you won’t find in others).

Pricing of GetResponse

There is a 30-day free trial of GetResponse where you can test everything within this autoresponder in your affiliate marketing business – right after then, you have to decide which of the below plans you wish to start with.

How much is GetResponse

There are currently four GetResponse plans:

Basic plan

This is the cheapest plan within GetResponse and it costs $15 per month where you can send an unlimited number of mails up to 1,000 subscribers.

I recommend this if you’re a beginner in the affiliate marketing world.

If you don’t want to get on an autoresponder service that’ll cause you sleepless nights along your affiliate marketing journey, then get started on this plan.

Essential plan

The second plan of this email marketing tool costs $49 per month which enables you to send emails up to 5,000 subscribers.

PRO plan

Starts at $99 for up to 10,000 subscribers

Enterprise plan

This is the highest GetResponse pricing plan which starts at $1,119 per month for up to 100,000 subscribers.

2. AWeber

AWeber is our third-best autoresponder for affiliate marketing (ConvertKit is the second-best with a free plan). One of the very first and popular email marketing software that has been in existence for years now.

AWeber autoresponder

AWeber also has a drag and drop feature which allows you to create follow-up campaigns to your subscribers. But you can’t create a landing page with it.

There are also other features within AWeber autoresponder like the segmentation option, reporting, and analytics, sign up forms, import, and exports plus few others.

I have to say that – even though AWeber happens to be an affiliate friendly email marketing software – it doesn’t have much sophistication when it comes to email marketing automation as a whole.

There are lots of things you can accomplish within GetResponse which AWeber can’t. Like the page building, Webinar, and CRM features.

Although I’ve been a user of AWeber for quite some time – but I do have to be honest that GetResponse is far better than AWeber in terms of functionality.

They also have a great support team guiding every user who gets into difficulty with the software.

The starting price of this Autoresponder starts at $19/mo (slightly higher than GetResponse’s).

Pricing of AWeber

AWeber Pricing

AWeber Autoresponder comes with about 5 pricing options and also a 30-day free trial to decide if it’s for you.

First plan

This is the smallest AWeber plan for those whose list is between 0-500 subscribers at the cost of $19/mo.

Second plan

This is for you if your subscriber count ranges from 501-2,500 subscribers and you pay $29/mo.

Third plan

Here you are to pay $49 per month for 2501-5000 subscribers.

Fourth plan

Here you pay $69 per month for 5,001-10,000 subscribers.

Fifth plan

This is the last plan if you have up-to 10,001-25,000 subscribers and it costs $149 per month.

3. ConvertKit

ConvertKit is the most powerful email marketing software of all the autoresponders in the market with one of the sleekest user interface.

This is an autoresponder specially made for content creators like bloggers, YouTubers, and podcasters.

Actually, ConvertKit used to be the third in line after AWeber, but the recent change to the platform made them the second-best affiliate friendly autoresponder.

Guess what?

They now offer a free plan! 🙂 at https://convertkit.com/free-plan/

ConverKit autoresponder for affiliate

There quite some cool features present in ConvertKit such as:

  • Easy and powerful segmentation of your subscribers
  • Auto resend broadcasts to un-opens (Golden)
  • Ability to share automation with others

Another thing I want you to be aware of ConvertKit is that it’s not a list-based autoresponder unlike most of its competitors. It has just a single database where all your subscribers are.

In essence – the only way you separate your subscribers based on interest is through the use of tags. In ConvertKit you make use of tags or segments to group your contacts.

So, whenever you’re sending a broadcast mail to your subscribers you can choose them based on specific forms, sequences, tags, products or whatever criteria you wish.

Although you might not find it ConvertKit as the ideal autoresponder for your affiliate marketing business – but this software is being used by top affiliate marketers in this space.

Talk about Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income and many others. He even recommends it on his resource page.

Pat Flynn resource page - ConverKit

That means that ConvertKit is a tool that’s worth looking into.

No doubt – it’s one of the most expensive out here, which starts at about $30/mo for its smallest plan.

The second paid one cost $49 per month 1k-3k subscriber count

The third paid plan of about 3k-5k subscribers’ costs $79 per month

4. SendLane

SendLane autoresponder

SendLane is another cool kid down the street which offers affiliate marketers a chance to use affiliate links in their email campaigns.

Sendlane is the best affiliate friendly autoresponder on this with greatest automation capability. Plus, it also allows you to segment your list based on over a dozen factors.

This is an email automation platform designed for content creators and midsized to large scale business owners and affiliates. It has both lists and tag-based management systems plus other advanced features.

Even though SendLane autoresponder has some pretty good advantages – below are two major problems associated with it:

  • It has no A/B testing feature
  • Expensive to start with

But overall it is an awesome marketing solution. Not forgetting its support with 1,400+ tool integrations.

Pricing of SendLane

SendLane pricing starts at $35/mo for 1,000 subscribers

Then $59/mo for 2,500 subscribers (Growth plan)

For 5,000 subscribers you pay $99/mo for Growth plan and 150/mo for Pro

$249/mo for the Marketing Automation PRO plan

5. Actionetics (Now called follow up funnels)

Should this smart ClickFunnels autoresponder be included also as affiliate marketing email marketing software?

We’ll find out soon…

Follow up funnels are an inbuilt email marketing service that comes along with ClickFunnels when you subscribe to the Platinum plan of ClickFunnels.

Where you pay $297/mo.

This smart automation tool allows you to follow up on leads within your sales funnel and send nurture emails based on their journey.

Below are a few of the reasons why I included Actionetics to this list:

  • There is no limit to the number of contacts
  • You can send affiliate offers to your subscribers the way you want
  • Smart follow up of subscribers based on actions
  • Deliverability is high

Apart from the above functionalities – you also have access to a full marketing tool suite to build a complete affiliate marketing business. That is ClickFunnels.

You can build and design sales funnels, landing pages, squeeze pages for your affiliate marketing business and even host your online course on the same platform.

How awesome does that sound?

You basically do not need much or any other tool as an affiliate marketer while using this tool.

But below are a few things related to it:

  • $297/mo is pretty expensive for an affiliate beginner
  • You can only use it with ClickFunnels
  • You get access to tons of training right inside your ClickFunnels account

Yes, you also need a lead capture or form opt-in, especially if you use WordPress. The tool that is most recommended is called Thrive Leads. It has all the functionalities needed for building list on WordPress and seamlessly integrates with all email tools.

  1. Callie

I do not agree with you regards to getting Getresponder as they also practice deactivated as and when they like without per-warning. As I have recently encountered. Now, I am searching for a reliable auto-responder. Please advice. Thank you

    1. Khris Steven

      Hi Callie,

Sorry to hear about your experience with GetResponse. Haven’t had any problem with them for almost a year now. You can try AWeber as well. Another top option as you can see on this list is ConvertKit which is used by top affiliate marketers I know in the industry – like Pat Flynn and many others.

  2. Glenn

Hi Khris thanks so much for this list!

I’m currently a paid user of AWeber (which is good for affiliate marketing) but I came searching for a better alternative than AWeber as the automation and tagging is pretty limited and yet, kind of pricey for me as someone with less than 1000 susbcribers.

Before abandoning my AWeber account, I want to be really sure if GetResponse can serve me much better. Thanks!

    1. Khris Steven

      Hi Glenn,

Yeah, I agree with you as I still have an AWeber account myself.

I would have recommended you go for ConverKit but it is an expensive option (about $30/mo). So the best and much affordable autoresponder for you is GetResponse.

More affordable and supports a more advanced automation and tagging feature than AWeber.

  3. Jin Haar

    Hi Khris;

Planning to start affliate marketing activities and possibilities for blogging later. I see Converkit is better for bloggers but can be used for affliate marketing. Does the reverse hold true as well? That is, is Getresponse work well for bloggers?

Thanking you in advance for your prompt reply.

    1. Khris Steven

      Hi Jin,

Yes, ConvertKit is more content marketing friendly than GetResponse but not for affiliate. But if you want to combine both blogging and affiliate – I highly recommend ConvertKit. Most top affiliate bloggers use CK.

Just that it can be expensive for some people.

  4. Johnny

    Hi Khris,
I have wordpress site and Thrive architecht for optin pages. As per your recommendation I’m going to try GetResponse for list building (because I’m trying affiliate marketing). But Do I also need Thrive leads as well. If I can create landing pages on GetResponse do I also need Thriverachitecht as well? So many things to integrate!! please help

    1. Khris Steven

      Hi Jonny,

Thrive Architect is a page builder for your WordPress site and only works within WP unlike GetResponse. Yes you need ThriveLeads to capture emails (through popups, inline forms, sticky bars, etc) and build your list on from WordPress. You’ll have to integrate it with your Autoresponder (GetResponse). If you create your landing pages on GetResponse and want to use it on your WordPress site – you can use their WordPress plugin to add your GetResponse landing page to your WordPress site as a subpage. Else I’d build it on WordPress using Thrive.
      Hope this helps?

  5. Jake

Hi Khris. I have a follow up or similar question with John. By the way I should have read your blog before investing time with Mailchimp and Mailerlite because both of them just suspended my account doing affiliate. Got close to 10k email list and im planning to start affiliate marketing. ( I got my leads from our industry of fitness by the way) So, I have a wordpress site now and wanting to have a built in subscriber form.. plus an email autoresponder that has capabilities to do popup forms and landing pages… what do you suggest me to get? Do I need to have getresponse and thrive leads still so i can work with my wordpress site? Im just kinda confused if i need all these 3. Thanks. Hoping to hear from you soon.

    1. Khris Steven

Hey Jake, thanks for stopping by,

Back in the days MailChimp suspended my account twice if I can remember. Until I moved out to a more affiliate friendly one.

Most of the email marketing platform on this list now supports building of landing pages. For popups, exit intents, etc – ThriveLeads would be the best bet. That’s what I’m using currently. You can’t build landing pages with ThriveLeads. It’s just lead capture plugin that integrates with WordPress and your favorite email tool.

So yes! Signup for Getresponse as your autoresponder and get ThriveLeads as your WP list building plugin.
      Hope that helps?

  6. timwalters

Get Response is THE WORST!!! Every email I send goes to spam! I took the same emails and the same list to a different autoresponder. Night and day!

    1. Khris Steven

      Hey Tim,

So sorry you had such experience with GetResponse. However, your emails going to spam isn’t the fault of your autoresponder. As they would have suspended your account if they find promoting affiliate products a problem. Which clearly isn’t.

That said, lots of factors could have caused your emails going to spam like: high bounce rates and complaints, inactive subscribers, no permission given, constant switching of autoresponders, using spam trigger words, etc.

From what I can see you’re a solo ad provider – and from my experience, it’s a common thing in the soloads space. Try cleaning up your lists regularly and implement sender’s warm-up processes to avoid spam filters.
