Affiliate Marketing tools

Truth be told, the right affiliate marketing tool can make or break your online business.

Over the past two years of being actively involved in affiliate marketing and blogging – from my experience – I can tell you that you don’t need the sharpest tool to make good money online.

As an affiliate.

You’d be surprised to find out the number of affiliate marketing tools I use daily in helping me make 5figures monthly.

Just a few.

Whether you’re a beginner getting started in the world of affiliate marketing – the huge number of affiliate tools and resources out there can be overwhelming.

You need to KISS.

Keep. It. Stupid. Simple.

When you employ the right tools for affiliates on your marketing efforts (for the current stage you’re in), it can literally save you hours of time. Which would be best spent on much greater things.

Our list is filled with tons of marketing tools and resources for different stages.

I will also reveal the exact tools I use currently in my business and how they can help you right now.

59+ BEST Affiliate Marketing Tools For Marketers 2023

Disclosure: Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and at no additional cost to you, I’ll earn a commission. Know that I only recommend tools, products, and services I’ve personally used and stand behind. When you purchase a tool using one of my affiliate links, the company compensates me, which helps me run this blog and keep all of my in-depth content free of charge for readers.

First, before we get started:

If you’re looking or wondering the tools I currently use in my publishing (blogging) business, affiliate marketing, landing pages, and sales funnels – check them out below:

Domain registrar: Namecheap (All of my domains are on Namecheap)

Web hosting: WPX hosting (I used Hostgator for 2years before moving to a more advanced and better hosting for affiliates)

Content Management System (CMS): Everyone knows WordPress.org is the best affiliate page builder out there.

WordPress theme: OceanWP

WordPress page builder: Elementor

Email marketing tool: AWeber

Optin-form and CTA pop-up: ConvertBox (read my review here)

Sales funnel & landing page builder: ClickFunnels (This is the software I use in building dedicated affiliate landing pages)

Shopping cart and affiliate management: ThriveCart (No use case yet, but bought the lifetime access to lock-in)

Writing tools: Grammarly, Google docs, MS-Word

Image Optimization: Shortpixel, TinyPNG

Schema Plugin: Schema PRO (For showing review ratings on Google and other schemas)

Affiliate Podcast: Authority Hacker Podcast

Stock Images: Pixabay

Those are my core affiliate marketing tools. There are a few others but I don’t think they matter much. Still, you don’t need them all.

Now let’s get into the main list:

Best Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners

Here are tools that are most needed and relevant for a newbie.

These tools are affordable and aren’t sophisticated or complex as those needed by a super affiliate, but are sure to help beginners earn their first $10-$100 then to $1000/mo.

Check them out below:

#1: Namecheap

Namecheap

Namecheap is a well-known domain registrar where almost every online marketer buys his domain name from. It’s my preferred platform for buying domain names.

Although there are other alternatives. Godaddy, Namejet, etc. But I just love Namecheap.

It is recommended that every beginner in the affiliate marketing space should at least have a domain name, if not for anything but for setting up an email marketing system.

#2: Bluehost

Secure Reliable Hosting - Bluehost

Bluehost is one of the largest website hosting providers and powers millions of websites.

And recommended by WordPress.

Before any affiliate can be accepted on most affiliate networks he must have proven to be either an active blog/website owner or built great assets over the years.

Like:

  • Email list
  • Website visitors
  • Social media following
  • Target audience, etc

#3: WordPress.org

This is definitely a must use for affiliate SEO and stuff.

WordPress is an open-source Content Management System where you build your site on. It’s very easy to use and blogging and SEO friendly.

It’s the world’s most popular and best page builder for creating any kind of website; from a simple blog, affiliate site, to a full-featured business website.

#4: Elementor

Elementor is a leading WordPress website and page building plugin.

Free version. Easy to use. Drag and drop. Responsive. With lots of website building features for bloggers, businesses, and affiliates.

#5: SEMrush

There’s no way you’d be able to tell the money terms people are really searching for without making use of an SEO tool.

SEMrush is one of the SEO best tools out here in the market with several features. Competitor analysis, site audit, backlink analysis. Many more…

There is free trial available to test it out.

#6: KwFinder

This used to be my favorite SEO tool back in the days. But I no longer use it.

You can give it a spin to see if it’s something you like. KwFinder can be used to discover long-tail keywords for any post you wish to write about. Just enter your keyword to find cool ideas in real-time.

It also comes along its sister (Mangools) tools you can use for:

  • Backlink analysis
  • Rank checking
  • Website audit etc

#7: Keywordtool.io

This is a free affiliate marketing keyword tool most beginners use in carrying out their keyword research.

Keywordtool.io helps marketers discover lots of long-tail keywords, prepositions, and suggestions. I use this myself all the time.

After getting phrases of keywords from this tool, I’ll export them as a CSV file then use Google keyword planner or KwFinder to find out the individual search volume, difficulty, and competition of these terms.

#8: PayPal

I guess you already know what PayPal is used for?

Of course, you need a verified PayPal account for receiving your payments and also for other affiliate marketing transactions.

Although some affiliate programs and affiliate networks pay directly to your account. But you still need PayPal along your journey.

#9: Canva

Canva

Canva is an online graphic software that makes it possible to design anything and publish anywhere.

eBooks. Presentations. Posters. Featured Images. Social media images. YouTube Thumbnails. Infographics. You name it.

#10: GetResponse

Even though I use AWeber presently. GetResponse seems better.

Every serious affiliate needs a great email marketing software. Even if not so great, but must be good enough for sending out your affiliate offers and also following up with new leads.

Just the way I do with AWeber.

So far so good most marketers and including me consider GetResponse to be one of the most friendly email Autoresponder.

There are other options out there, but from my research, this still remains the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

#11: Gsuite

For you to be able to send promotional emails to your list using an email Autoresponder, you must first set up an SMTP.

You can’t send emails with an email address like name@gmail.com, you’ll need an email like name@domain.com

To be able to send emails, you need to provide the correct SMTP server when you set up your email client. So you need a Gsuite account to able to accomplish this.

An alternative to this is Zoho.

#12: Divi Theme

I use OceanWP. But there are other great WordPress themes out there.

Such as Divi by Elegant Themes.

This is one of the powerful WordPress themes suitable for affiliate marketing.

#13: Google Applications

Every content creator from beginners’ to expert needs the following Google tool suite:

  • Google sheets

This is a Web-based application that allows marketers to create, update, and modify spreadsheets and share the data live online.

  • Google Docs

Just like Ms-Word lets you create, edit, and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and drawings with Google Docs.

You can even upload Microsoft Office files directly into Docs or download Docs files in Microsoft Office formats.

  • Google slides

Yeah, you got it right, an online version of Microsoft PowerPoint for creating custom visually appealing presentations.

  • Google Calendar and Google keep

This helps to quickly look at your plans and helps you to stay focused on everything you’ve committed to accomplishing.

While Gkeep is just for keeping notes plus a bunch of other stuff.

#14: Thirsty Affiliates

This is a marketing tool in the form of a WordPress plugin that helps cloak affiliate links, especially the ugly looking ones.

Thirsty Affiliate marketing tool also helps monitor websites’ visitors’ link clicks, but not as sophisticated as a dedicated link tracking tool in general.

#15: Grammarly

One of my favorite content marketing tools.

Grammarly helps me check for several types of errors. It detects grammar and punctuation mistakes – basic to advance. Grammarly also detects correctly spelled words used in the wrong context.

 #16: Google Analytics

This is Google’s free web analytics service that allows you to analyze in-depth detail about the visitors on your blog.

It constantly provides me valuable insights that help me keep shape the success strategy of my entire websites and affiliate business.

#17: Google Webmaster Tool

This is a must-have if you run websites that attract traffic from Google.

It used to be called Google Search Console. It allows webmasters to check indexing status (on Google) and optimize the visibility of their websites in real time.

With this free platform provided by Google to website owners, you can have in-depth insights into how search engines interact with your site.

This is one of the tools I can’t do without since I discovered how deep I can really go with this FREE tool in monitoring my site behavior in search results.

#18: SumoMe

Sumo list builder

Sure you need to devise strategic means on how to build an email list from your affiliate site. The best way to that is by offering a signup incentive to website visitors with either:

  • Pop-up slides
  • Doormats
  • Sign up form

I used SumoMe on this site before switching over to Thrive Leads. Although I still use Sumo on my other sites. And it’s pretty easy to configure and enable on your site.

It consists of other free marketing tools to grow your email list, get more traffic, and much more.

A must use for bloggers in the beginners’ category.

#21: Yoast SEO plugin

Yoast is the most popular SEO plugin tool with close to 4million installation. It is mainly used for on-page optimization on your WordPress blog.

This powerful tool makes your affiliate site as search-engine-friendly as possible.

#22: MobileMonkey

MobileMonkey is a popular chatbot building software that was founded by Larry Kim.

MobileMonkey comes with lots of amazing features that are undoubtedly valuable to marketers and online business owners as a whole.

You get several functionalities for building messenger chatbots without mastering any line of code, making it so easy to use, learn and implement.

#23: Bitly

Bit.ly is a free tool for affiliate marketing. Used by beginners and experts.

I sometimes share my ugly looking affiliate links with friends on Facebook messenger (on permission), in Groups, etc.

No, you don’t expect me to share those confusing lengthy links. Bit.ly helps me in shortening and customizing those links to look sweet.

#24: Unsplash

Just like Pixabay, Unsplash is a photo stock site where you can get access to thousands of stock photos for your marketing campaigns, blog posts, landing pages, and lots of other things.

Sites like Pixabay and Unsplash grants you an irrevocable copyright license to download, modify, and use its photos for free without attribution.

Marketing Tools For Super Affiliates

Super affiliates are generally marketers who generate a much higher affiliate commission or have attained some certain heights. Affiliates in this category require a bunch of more sophisticated tools in running their online business.

A few examples of super affiliates whom I respect are:

  • Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income
  • Gael Breton and Mark Webster of Authority Hacker
  • Matt Diggity of Diggity Marketing
  • Spencer Mecham of Buildaprenuer

Those are the names I could remember off my head right now. There are more. Hundreds (if not thousands) of super affiliates worldwide today.

As an affiliate (or an aspiring one) – you should know who Pay Flynn is. Except you live under the rock. You wouldn’t be reading this if you do.

Over the years Pat has made millions as an affiliate. An author. Runs several businesses and hosts one of the best marketing podcasts.

The Authority Hacker guys also run successful affiliates websites. They have one of the best affiliate marketing courses and host my favorite affiliate marketing podcast.

Spencer is the number.1 ClickFunnels affiliate (made millions from it). Runs an engaged Facebook community and also has an amazing course. While Matt is my hero when it comes to affiliate SEO.

These guys are all super affiliates and they require tons and tons of advanced marketing tools in their day to day activities.

Now lets dive in:

#25: WPX Hosting

Like I said earlier, I first got started using Hostgator. It was cheap for me then. But after years when I needed a much more advanced, fast, and reliable hosting service. I switched to WPX Hosting.

This falls under tools used by super-affiliates.

No, I’m not (yet) a super affiliate but I run a few websites with lots of traffic requiring something better.

And lots of my affiliate friends and marketers I respect, recommend WPX above every other hosting service.

#26: Ahrefs

Ahrefs is the best SEO tool suite for link building, competitive research, keyword research, SEO analysis, and many used for carrying out more other SEO tasks.

#27: ClickFunnels

Since I’ve started using this tool both as a page builder and a lead generation tool, things became less complicated for me.

In terms of building affiliate funnels and pages.

Apart from the fact you can build complex funnels by simply dragging and dropping inside of ClickFunnels or just picking your desired templates to customize – there are actually other functionalities housed under this tool.

Using this tool alone can help reduce the cost of using several other affiliate marketing tools.

Yeah, I know successful affiliates without WordPress websites that do consistent 5-7 figures monthly. All using ClickFunnels-built pages + traffic source.

ClickFunnels funnel steps

You will no longer need the services of the following affiliate marketing tools when using ClickFunnels:

  • Email Autoresponder (if on the higher plan)
  • Webhosting
  • Affiliate management tool
  • Split testing app
  • Website theme/template
  • WordPress Plugins
  • Checkout tool
  • And a few others

There is a 14 days free trial to get started building your affiliate funnels.

#28: Buzzsumo

BuzzSumo is a research and monitoring tool for online marketers.

It’s used for massive content research across the web, and also getting insightful metrics needed by every online content creator to dominate in any niche.

#29: CovertKit

Most affiliates I know who aren’t comfortable GetResponse or AWeber settled for ConverKit.

It’s kind of more featured-filled than Getresponse, no doubt! ConvertKit makes managing your email list and setting up autoresponders so easy and user-friendly.

The best for bloggers, YouTubers, Podcasters, and content marketers are large.

#30: Teachable

All the super affiliates I talked about above all have their various affiliate marketing courses. And from my research, the majority of them built and host their courses on Teachable.

All-in-one software for creating and selling online courses. With ease. Teachable got you!

There are other Teachable alternatives (cheaper & better) you can try though. But still, I’d recommend Teachable for affiliate course creators.

#31. Trello

Trello is a great collaboration tool and a project management app that helps you to manage the task effectively and also delegate tasks.

For business owners. It helps you to organize your projects, letting you work conclusively with your teams.

It can be used on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.

Zapier is a tool that allows you to connect apps you use every day to automate tasks and save time. This amazing tool allows you to automate actions between different web apps you use every day.

#33: Facebook group

This is the holy grail of 21st-century affiliate marketing business.

Wait… Did I tell you that my first breakthrough as an affiliate happened via the use of Facebook social media groups and attraction marketing?

Yup! But not with mine. I did with others’.

Marketing through Facebook groups (organically) is one of the free methods to make your first affiliate commission without ever investing in websites, blogs, or landing page builders.

You can create yours or leverage that of others.

In case you’re wondering:

What does an affiliate need a Facebook group for?

You need a Facebook group of like-minded individuals so you could be able to promote your affiliate offers without any form of restriction. You help your group members, be of value, and recommend products you use and trust.

There are clever ways you can use a Facebook group to promote your offers. I covered most in this post.

#34: Group Funnels

Still on FB groups…

Read my full Spin Rewriter Review here.

#41: Udimi

Udimi is the #1 most recommended platform for buying traffic and clicks. This is a marketplace for solo ad sellers and buyers.

Especially for those in the Make Money Online (MMO) Niche (affiliate marketing and MLM).

If you desire to make fast sales in your affiliate marketing business, then this could probably be a nice option – buying traffic to your affiliate offers.

Here you pay a list owner (vendor) for the number of clicks you want, and then he sends out your affiliate offers to his list.

Personally, I don’t recommend this type of traffic in any way. Except you’ve mastered it enough.

#42: ClickMagick

This is my favorite link tracking tool among others. It is a powerful online tool for tracking all your marketing efforts.

There are numerous features of this tool that make it lovable by many marketers.

  • Cloaking
  • Split testing

If you have a plan in buying traffic – make sure you never (ever) run Solo ad affiliate marketing campaigns without making use of an affiliate link tracker like ClickMagick. It comes with a free trial.

Affiliate Marketing Plugins for WordPress (Bloggers)

These are WordPress plugins used mostly by SEO affiliate bloggers or webmasters.

They basically help online marketers and publishers carry out a couple of tasks and also ease the pain of having to apply numerous lines of codes to achieve a specific goal on WordPress.

Check them out:

#52: MonsterInsights plugin

This is a very popular Google Analytics Plugin for WordPress sites where marketers will have to connect their Analytics account and view their traffic stats inside the WordPress dashboard.

#53: Thrive Leads

With Thriveleads you can add popup lightboxes, ribbons, in-line forms, slide-ins, and more on your WordPress site to grow your email list.

This is what I use presently.

#54: WP Meta and Date Remover plugin

Most affiliate bloggers chose to hide author meta, date, last updated, or their identity from their posts.

Once this WordPress affiliate plugin is activated, all of the Meta information is automatically removed.

#55: Google XML Sitemap plugin

A sitemap helps search engine crawlers access our website content.

So a tool like this creates special XML sitemaps which will help search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, and Ask.com to better index our posts.

#56: Pretty Links

This affiliate marketing tool is also used for cloaking and tracking affiliate URLs on WordPress just like ThirstyAffiliates.

With Pretty Links you can shrink, cloak, track, organize, share and test all of your links on your own domain and server.

#57: Schema PRO

Rich snippets and schema markup are a great way to improve how your WordPress site looks in Google’s search results pages. Schema PRO is the tool I use for showing review star rating.

#58: WP Content Copy Protection

This is a plugin that prevents your posts from being copied by others. This plugin does not allow any sort of right-clicking and highlighting on your posts.

I have few affiliate marketing friends who use this on their niche sites.

The main reason they use this is to avoid their contents being copied by competitors or other publishers. To me, however, I don’t see why I should use such a plugin.

Even though I’ve gotten a lot of my contents ripped off by lazy and unethical bloggers – that doesn’t bother me much. Google is way smarter.

Plus, I consider enabling a plugin like this on my sites is a waste of time.

If popular and authority sites don’t use such a plugin, why should I?

#59: W3 Total Cache plugin

Cache plugins help improve your site speed. They improve performance. Reduce load times by caching multiple elements on your web pages.

Then improving the responsiveness of your webserver.

W3 Total Cache plugin is what I use on my sites. There is a free version.

For marketers in general.

#63: SmartPassiveIncome Podcast

SmartPassiveIncome site itself is one of my favorite affiliate marketing blogs which I’ve been following for a very long time now.

Pat Flynn

He hosts insightful podcast episodes and also shares mind-blowing passive income hacks.

#64: Free Affiliate Bootcamp

Just getting started?

On a budget?

In need of a free affiliate marketing course?

Then quickly check out ClickFunnels’ own affiliate marketing Bootcamp for free.

This is a training where 15 ClickFunnels super affiliates shared deep strategies on how to go from zero to thousands in making affiliate commissions, within 100 days.

You might love it. Because I loved it when I went through it.

These affiliates outlined each and every step they would take to accomplish that, and the exact tools and strategies to be used.

Diverse tactics were covered by these affiliates and online marketers.

Below are some of the strategies covered:

  • SEO and blogging
  • Creating an irresistible offer for easy affiliate sale
  • Using Facebook groups and profile to promote products
  • Using YouTube for affiliate marketing
  • And so many more

The downside about this free training is that it comes in the form of a summit. This means after four days of enrolling, you’ll lose access to the whole courses.

You would have to buy the OFA 30 days challenge (costs $100) to gain lifetime access without restrictions.

You can only finish up the whole summit within the given timeframe if you have a lot of time on your lap. Just make out time before you enroll.

#65: Affiliate Secrets 3.0

A course by Spencer Mecham. (You already know him right?)

Affiliate Secrets 3.0 contains 8 modules of information that reveals exactly how Spencer makes 7 figures a year through affiliate marketing.

I did a deep dive into the course in this review. If you’d like to go through the webinar presentation/free training – you can watch the Masterclass here.

What Are The Essential Tools Needed In Affiliate Marketing?

It’s important that for anyone who’s just starting their affiliate marketing business or in the middle of their journey to always get the core essential tech infrastructures in place.

They include:

A shared hosting plan, affiliate friendly email marketing software, link tracker, and landing page/website builder.

All others can come later along the journey but these ones can’t be skipped nor ignored when launching your business off the ground.

  • For Shared hosting Plan

Make sure you go with Bluehost if you’re starting out (budget-friendly). You can buy both your domain and host on there as well.

  • For affiliate friendly email marketing software

As a beginner, you should start with GetResponse, less sophisticated and cheap, or ConvertKit for more advanced automation.

  • Link Tracker (optional)

Use ClickMagick for this, or simply get Voluum (a better alternative).

  • Landing Page builder

This is one of the ‘can’t do without’ tools in an affiliate marketing biz. For sure you need to build a list and create landing pages and affiliate funnels.

NO LIST NO BUSINESS RIGHT?

For this, I’d recommend ClickFunnels (all-in-one) drag and drop page builder if you don’t plan to start with a WordPress blog. Has everything inbuilt for you.

Or Thrive Leads for WordPress lead generation.

My Final Thoughts…

And there you have it!

My list of best affiliate marketing tools.

Ultimately, I’m a major advocate of getting by on as tight a budget as possible when it comes to using affiliate marketing tools, especially in the beginning when trying to earn your first dollar.

If I can remember vividly, I started my affiliate marketing career with $80 only.

Until I made enough to invest in premium tools.

If you’re a new affiliate and tight on a budget like I was when I began, then go with some free affiliate marketing tools on this list. Although they may not be as efficient as the paid ones.

But at least they’re better than not getting started.

If you have some cash to spend on some of these affiliate tools. Do it. I’m solidly behind you. Most are worth it.

Paying for tools helps gets the job accomplished faster. You’ll be glad you did.

But I want you to know that all of these affiliate marketing tools won’t save you when you solely rely on them without:

Devising the right strategies, constantly learning from the greats, networking with the right minds are things that helps me in making 5 figures monthly as an affiliate.

Now, are there any other affiliate marketing tools I missed that should be added to the list?

Let us know in the comments.
